Our Approach
The McDonald Design Group
approaches each project by listening and reacting
to our client's goals. Client satisfaction is
our only measure of a project's success.
Our Technique
Creative
golf course architecture is achieved through a
truly unique blend of pre-construction planning
and field design. Missed design opportunities,
increased construction costs, and scheduling delays
are often the result once these two components
become unbalanced. The McDonald Design Group believes
every client deserves extensive attention to each
phase of the design process.
Pre-Construction
Planning
The McDonald Design Group addresses
every aspect of design on paper before ground
is ever broken. From endless possible routing
schemes to detailed drainage plans, the strategic,
technical, and engineering issues are solved prior
to construction. With these issues resolved, we
are able to concentrate on the artistry of course
design once construction begins.
Field
Design
In no other arena of architecture
does a project's success depend so much upon the
on-site adjustments that are impossible to be
illustrated on blueprints. The Design Group utilizes
a "hands-on" design approach during construction.
Frequent site visits to inspect, adjust and approve
completed work lend themselves to better golf
holes. Making decisions as the earth is being
sculpted, edging the bunkers alongside the crew,
and flagging each fairway line has made the difference
on our projects.
Our Style
The
McDonald Design Group's creative flexibility allows
us to undertake projects of all types. Our flexibility
allows renovation work to blend seamlessly into
the layout's existing features, and allows our
new construction projects to be truly unique.
In addition to The McDonald Design Group's creativity,
our collective backgrounds in golf course construction
and maintenance produce artistic, yet functional
designs. We produce designs that can be built
and maintained affordably. We believe our responsibilities
to the client remain long after the project is
completed, as course maintenance is a constant
consideration.
